AOC GM510 review: super-light gaming mouse

In this review we will see AOC GM510, a very light gaming mouse that offers a peculiar design with a honeycomb pattern illuminated by AOC red LEDs that give a truly suggestive effect

Let's go back to talking about gaming mice, this time the protagonist of our review is AOC GM510. This is a model recently presented by the gaming division of AOC. Its peculiarity is certainly the design that distinguishes it from all its predecessors, but obviously let's go in order. Here's what we think after a few weeks of use.

Design and construction | AOC GM510 review

Inside the box we simply find our mouse plus some paperwork. The mouse it is made of plastic and is very solid. There are no creaks or deformations even if you tighten it with a fair amount of force. All this despite the honeycomb rear design choice. Despite giving a first impression of lightness and fragility, this AOC GM510 is a rock. After all, bees know how to build their nests well. Thanks to the RGB LEDs inserted inside the structure, we will see the inside of the mouse light up, creating an original light effect and different from the usual, with the AOC logo that dominates the center of the composition.

Also the keys are of good quality, especially the wheel and the two main buttons. On the side we find two other buttons which are the classic "Page Up" and "Page Down" by default. Finally we have a last button on the apex of the mouse to adjust the DPI. The latter are a little less cared for and a little "plasticky", but they are used much less. The USB cable is nice long and covered in nylon, this makes it a little less accustomed to entanglement.

Ergonomics and usability | AOC GM510 review

The mouse is optimized for right-handed users and it must be said that it fits quite well in the hand. Thanks to combination of lightness and build quality, the sensation to the touch is excellent and we will have no problem moving it easily on the table. On the other hand, it runs very well even without the use of mats. The shape fits well in the hand and the size is correct even if your hands are a bit large.

The keys of the AOC GM510 give good feedback, especially the two main ones as anticipated. Though I would have preferred to have the switch a little higher in order to reduce the movement you have to make your finger to get to press. This increases reaction times and can even tire you after a while. The wheel does its job as it should. Fluid, but with well-marked steps. Thanks to the PPE adjustment you can adapt the responsiveness of the sensor to your needs. In any case, the optical sensor is excellent and reacts well.

User experience | AOC GM510 review

More than discreet as an office mouse, obviously we are talking about a gaming product, made to manage rapid and sudden movements. Thanks to the adjustable DPI, it is well suited both to fast-paced titles such as FPS, RPG or MOBA, but also to strategy games or simulators where high speed is not required, but precision. As mentioned above, sometimes during long sessions the hand gets a little tired due to the perhaps too pronounced curvature. A trick can be to rest your forearm on the table or use one of these padded pads on your wrist.

The G-Menu software allows you to manage the various AOC devices, including GM510. They can customize the buttons and configure the DPI directly from the graphic interface. we can also customize the lighting pattern, modifying the color and brightness management, creating the effect we like best.

Conclusions

This AOC GM510 is a good gaming mouse though look for a very versatile product and above all read it. He also stays very sober on the desk if you love more elegant configurations. For hardcore gamers maybe I would recommend a more advanced model, but if you are passionate who spend a few hours in the evening or on the weekend playing, this mouse is a good candidate. Maybe the price of 44 euros is still a bit high, but you will likely be able to take it home on offer easily. That's all from the hardware section, keep following us!
