Although this console has been discontinued, this relic is still cherished by many video game enthusiasts, but they are sometimes limited by the limited space on the original hard drive. If that's the case, don't worry, we'll show you how to replace it. We will also teach you to fix the problem when the Xbox screen does not provide an image, which is another problem presented by the users.
How to open the console?
Before starting, you should have some tools at hand. For the screws Torx T15 larger and T10 for smaller ones both are star-shaped.
Unplug the console completely and flip it over to see the back. Remove the four anti-slip pads first to remove the hidden screws using the T15 screwdriver.
You should also remove two screws that are on the sides of the labels. Then flip cautiously la console and remove the top cover. You will see the components of your Xbox.
Prepare your new hard drive
You must have a hard drive with an IDE connection of the capacity you deem necessary for your console, it can go up to 500GB. Before installing it on your Xbox, you need to make some changes. For this it is necessary to have a power source to power the hard disk, this can be portable or traditional.
You will also need to download the ZXBInstaller file to your computer, you can get it from its official website. Unzip the file and then burn it to a CD empty creating an ISO disc. For this you can use programs like IMGburn or others of your preference.
After this step, go to your console that you previously opened and unplug the IDE cable from old hard drive to connect it to the new one.
Next, connect the console to the TV and the power supply to power the new hard drive. Turn on the console and just when you see the Xbox logo on the screen, unplug the IDE cable to leave the disc in boot mode.
Once the cable is disconnected, turn off the Xbox to reconnect to the original hard drive. Insert the disc you recorded earlier and wait for the program to start running, don't worry if it takes some time.
When you see the options menu on the screen, unplug the IDE cable and plug in the new hard drive. Select the Format Menu option and then Full Format.
The program will ask you if you want to continue, select the Yes option. Now you need to press both triggers and Start on your console's remote to start the process.
At the end of the process, press the triggers and Restart on the remote to finish. Go to the Xbox with Exploit option and select Full Exploit. Select the first option and then UnleashX. Confirm and wait for the process to complete.
Install your new hard drive
When Exploit is installed, it is required lock the new hard drive before permanently inserting it into the console. To do this, look for the Explorer option from the main menu.
Once there, go to drive D, select Installation and then Applications. Look for the option Default.xbe in the ConfigMagic menu.
When the console restarts, press the Start button and select the Lock HDD option and press the A button on the controller.
At the end of the process, press A and d again exit the ConfigMagic menu to finish. You can turn off the console to insert the new disc.
You have to unscrew the old hard drive and carefully remove it to replace it with the one you have prepared. Secure the new one with the screw and connect it as it was originally.
