The next Chinese foldable smartphone, Huawei Mate X2, it will have a new generation foldable display that can be closed inwards and not outwards.
The panel will be made by Samsung e BOE. The source claims that this information is disclosed by Huawei investors a DisplaySearch, famous site of analysis regarding the quality of the aforementioned panels.
The Chinese company had already applied to register a patent for a foldable smartphone with a display that folds inwards, but had not yet decided to use it to make the product real. In any case, the document is dated January 2020, is relatively fresh and has been filed with the EUIPO which has a European headquarters.
The images you see show a different design from that of the predecessor, for example there are two cameras on the front and 4 on the rear. Having a form factor stile Galaxy Fold, will also have an external display that will cover almost the entire surface of the front plant when closed. One thing in common with the first generation Mate X is that the fold will not be exactly in the middle of the panel but slightly offset.
From the images you can also see a recess to insert a sort of Huawei Pen but we don't think if the company wants to include this feature that would challenge Samsung with its S Pen. In any case, the patent mentions it.
Obviously we don't expect a Huawei Mate X2 low price. If so the smartphone, we would end up with a top technical data sheet and an equally top list price. We're also curious what kind of SoC will power it now that Huawei and TSMC have finished theirs collaboration due to force majeure.
It's a great time to buy the Huawei P40 Lite E. For less than 200 euros you also get the Huawei Band 4 as a gift, you can find it here .
