One, two, three, Stella: this cup always hosts the best tracks, and today's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe guide tracks are no different
Here we are again to talk about again tracks and tracks in our third appointment with the guide a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Star Trophy it has as its symbol an object that in some titles the mustache is a mere power-up, and in others it is an object to be collected; a way like any other to remind us that here we start to fly with quality. Expect therefore, after our section dedicated to the layout of each track, several generous evaluations. Today we will see some real heavyweights: the Airport of the Sun, the Laguna Delfino, the Electrodrome and one of our all-time favorites, Mount Wario. Let's begin!
Airport of the Sun
May it never be that tracks inspired by the Super Mario Sunshine setting are missing, and as always, the tracks featured in today's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe guide are no exception. Airport of the Sun, like its predecessors Spiaggia di Peach, Borgo Delfino and (we'll talk about it again) Outlet Cocco, offers a more enjoyable glimpse on the Mediterranean island. Luckily, no blue coins!
- Layout: The first curves between the carriages herald a crossroads. After the first hairpin bend, in fact, you will have two options: get on the plane from the wing, or continue below among the trolleys. Afterwards, you will find a bend accompanied by a sloping platform off the path. It will be up to you to choose whether to try the cut or not, but be careful: it is not easy to succeed even with mushrooms. The ramp for glides will take you into the air over an anti-gravity section of the track, suspended in the air. At the end of this aerial walk, another ramp will take you to glide onto the landing strip, where a final curve precedes the finish line. You can cut it with a mushroom (or without it, if you want), but watch out for the speakers: they are a real wall for your acceleration. Unless, by breaking them, you do not find something useful ...
- Valutazione: A great introduction to an explosive championship, although perhaps not great. The game can still do better, but this track remains a gem in and out of context. 8,5 / 10.
Laguna Delfino - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks and tracks guide
If you love "wobbly" underwater driving, you will love the Dolphin Lagoon. If not… well, this comeback of the spectacled Delphi from Super Mario World may not be your thing. Hand to the snorkels!
- Layout: This is the first track in the series to boast an underwater finish line, did you know? However, after the first corner you will find several ramps to emerge with, before heading into the abyss. In fact, the next corner will take you to a section where inertia is vital: be careful how you manage your drift. You will need the pipes to avoid sinking, so try to make the most of their upward puffs of air. After a couple of jumps (including one on the right side, if you want to try a pseudo-shortcut), you will be able to run on the back of the giant Mordorena to perform some stunts to give yourself a good push. Sooner or later you will have to let yourself fall, and it will be then that the last bend to the right will lead you to the final glide. After that, if you have mushrooms, you can cut the last curve.
- Valutazione: Definitely the weak link of the Stella Trophy. There is worse, but there is also much, much better. 7/10.
Electrodrome - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track and track guide
Remember our special dedicated to the best fan tributes? The one for Mario made ofElectrodrome its location, and with good reason: this gigantic rave party is, as some have defined it, the physical (and abstract) representation of an mp3 player inside. And Mario's enemies are too busy dancing to mind the pilots… except for a few Piranha Plants that are too loyal to work.
- Layout: The high use of antigravity on this track will allow you to gain turbo boost from all the pilots you are going to collide with. After the first jump and the first corners, a fork will divide the track for some time. Choose any path: you will soon discover that you are exactly above (or below, depending on your point of view) whoever took the other path. At the end, the roads will come together before a hopping downhill curve, with a different musical accompaniment for each step. The last glide will lead you to the final left curve, where the aforementioned plants await you.
- Valutazione: A track, this, full of pure fun, and with an appropriately energetic soundtrack. Another center for a phenomenal cup. 8,5 / 10.
Monte Wario
One of the undisputed masterpieces among the tracks and tracks not only of this part of the guide, but of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in its entirety, is his majesty Monte Wario. The reason? It is a real ski race, revisited in a key… well, Mario Kart. There's no doubt: where Wario's name is, there's his delusional game designer hand!
- Layout: This is one of the few circuits in the game that can be categorized more as courses (hence the name “Additional Paths Pass” for the DLC), as there are no “laps”. The milestone only needs to be reached once, and Lakitu will keep us informed of our progress throughout the race. After launching from the helicopter, you will have to deal with winding switchbacks surrounded by dangerous ramps, but they will reward your audacity if you use them as a springboard for stunts. The cavern, always downhill, consists of a gliding section: manage it well and you can use the next ramp to extend it. The section inside the “Wario Dam”, once you get outside, has water currents: try to intercept the turbos. At the end you will find yourself at a crossroads for two different slaloms in the trees, but if you have a mushroom you should see a central shortcut. After that you will find yourself back on the real ski slope, before facing a painful descent full of turbo.
- Valutazione: An undisputed masterpiece, and a fixed stop for both our matches and yours. We can put our hand on the snow: we will get a cold burn, and you will discover a level design miracle. Academic kiss. 10/10.
