The blazing retro equivalent of the Special Trophy is the subject of our today's guide to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks and tracks
And with today's appointment, ours guide to tracks and tracks touches a milestone: true, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe It also packs all the DLC from the base game on Wii U, but the Lightning Trophy concludes the contents for the latter. The next four episodes, therefore, will be dedicated to the circuits included by default only in the re-edition for Nintendo Switch, before moving on (in case you have doubts about it) to the DLC for the latter. So await us DS Pista Tic-tac, 3DS Tubirinto Piranha, Wii Vulcano Grumpy and N64 Pista Arcobaleno. Get ready to whiz!
DS Tictac Track
Inspired by the Pendulum Tictoccato, the penultimate level of a Super Mario 64 DS at the time of its recent re-release, DS Tictac Track this is what the name suggests: testifying to the variety of track and track settings, our guide to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe makes a stop in the gears of a clock. What else to say? Expect to have to readjust the shot several times. In fact, every lap also changes… the lap that the various components do, altering the traffic of the lanes! The track remake bases its look on the “watchmaking” setting of Super Mario 3D Land.
- Layout: After the first curve to the left, a climb (with a ramp, if you want to do stunts) will lead you to an open space on the quadrant. Be careful not to push yourself too far into the center: the hands are partly suspended in the air. The descent that follows (with ramp) includes a pendulum, which you should avoid. It can in fact limit itself to stopping your run as much as it can throw you into the void if you are on the outer edges. Same reasoning for the pendulum after the curve to the right. The next turn will lead you to two intermittent ramps, similar to those of the Melodiodromo. Try to glide to avoid having to follow the rotation of the gears as long as possible. The next two curves lead to a second, smaller quadrant before the final climb. Depending on the lap, you will have to choose the right gear if you want to push yourself on the outer side of the track: not only does it expose you to the risk of falling, but you may also find yourself wasting time rather than gaining it.
- Valutazione: Maybe we love clockpunk a lot, but this pearl of level design has entered our hearts by right. Especially for the heart-pounding races that almost always give surprises at the last corner. To play and replay. 10/10.
3DS Tubirinto Piranha – piste and track guide di Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
It took seven episodes of the series, but finally with Mario Kart 7 the Big N wanted to propose a circuit that well embodied the linear levels of the mustache universe. But 3DS Tubirinto Piranha will he succeed in the enterprise?
- Layout: The waterslide will take you to a short underwater section, before tackling the first real turns. The junction with the Piranha Plant in the center will force you to stick to the direction you have chosen: the center is within the range of the vegetable. Going on, after the curve, Goombas await you: avoid them and try to take the ramps on the sides to enjoy acrobatics and (albeit minimal) shortcuts. The left and right curves that will follow do not have a guard rail. The next descent, then, combines antigravity and diving guidance. Try to make good use of the air currents, as in the second and third rounds they will grant you access to the raised platform in the center. After a Piranha Plant, the uphill turbos will take you on a plane to the final stage. Beware of arches and Goombas of all kinds: real or cardboard, they will slow you down anyway. Before the last corner you will also notice the hardcover of a bush: if you have mushrooms, you know what to do.
- Valutazione: Discounted giveaways to 3D Land or not, re-proposing the settings of a World 1-2 at random in a completely different genre is not for everyone. And like all “not for everyone” enterprises, the Big N accomplished it without problems. 9/10.
Wii Grumpy Volcano - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track and track guide
Speaking of Mariesque settings transformed into circuits, we have a question: how to turn world 8 of a Mario game into a track without resorting to Bowser's Castle? In reality, only the developers of Mario Kart Wii have asked themselves, but in any case Wii Volcano Grouch is back to stay.
- Layout: Watch out for cracks in the ground, because on subsequent laps those sections of the track will sink into the lava. The first two curves should already give you an idea of the "dangerous" (and unsafe) level design that awaits you. After the platform jump, the cave hosts two parallel streets separated by a fork. The next glide will allow you not only to avoid the platforms on the ground, but also to more easily access the elevated section with the ramp. There is also one on the right-hand corner if you prefer. You choose which road is the most suitable for you at the big crossroads: on the left a climb with a blue ramp awaits you to glide to the finish line, while on the right you will find the more "normal" road. Be careful, though, as everything between the cave and the finish is teeming with Vampeserpi.
- Valutazione: Definitely the weak link of the championship, although never at the levels of the Tartosso Desert. If you love challenges, go up one point. 6,5 / 10.
N64 Rainbow track
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has decided, among the various tracks in this guide, to put on the cover one of the last tracks to be tackled. N64 Rainbow track it is the “very long” incarnation of the circuit seen in Mario Kart 64, shortened to last just one lap. The neon signs in the sky have been replaced by fireworks more suited to the context, while below you you can admire what is presumed to be the City of Mushrooms from Double Dash !!. That the mycological metropolis aims to return in the DLC? We will know in time.
- Layout: There isn't much to say, actually. The track is mostly composed of anti-gravity sections, as well as without guardrails. There are exceptions… and there are clangs to avoid. The occasional rings, as dictated by that same Super Mario Galaxy who inspired them, will give you a turbo boost.
- Valutazione: One of the most popular variants of the Pista Arcobaleno is back more beautiful than ever. The references to the games released later (the aforementioned Launch Stars and City of Mushrooms, plus the golden train from Super Mario 3D World), then, are the icing on the cake. Deserved place on the cover. 9,5 / 10.
