Drake's epilogue, but not only - Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection review for PS5
The first chapter in the collection sees our dear old Nathan Drake, the handsome and brave hero who is once again carried away by the cliché of "one last job", supported by his brother (once thought to be dead) Sam in search of the treasure of the pirate James Avery. Ever since they were children Sam (played by Troy Baker) has been obsessed with the treasure in question, and finally manages to convince his little brother to accompany him on this suicide mission.
The Lost Legacy, on the other hand, follows the adventures of Chloe Frazer: the old flame of Drake who has been given a lot of space in the course of the previous chapters of the series. For the occasion, actress Claudia Black returns in excellent shape, giving the best character interpretation of her to date. Together with her, in the DLC we find the mercenary Nadine Ross (Laura Bailey), returned for redemption after appearing for the first time in Uncharted 4 to fill the role of stern sidekick. The two protagonists are in search of Ganesh's fang, priceless treasure and never-satisfied obsession with Chloe's father.
Gameplay – Recensione Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection per PS5
Uncharted is known for its blend of climbing, shooting, and puzzles, and these two titles present the mechanics we've enjoyed in the past in a vastly improved technical and visual form. The biggest thing that separates Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy from the rest of the series is the grapple, a trusty new gimmick that pushes the character to distances once deemed unreachable. While grappling hooks are a historical cliché in the action-adventure landscape, their introduction really opens up here lots of new opportunities. The ability to sneak through some situations has also seen an update: previously it was only available in a handful of specific levels, while now almost any encounter can be tackled with guns drawn or by silently taking down enemies. low profile.
Naughty Dog has introduced a handful of new features and improvements to the PS5 remaster; the largest of which revolves around the DualSense controller. This includes the usual haptic feedback so that players hear all the "punches, vaulting and driving of vehicles" (citing Sony). Tension in the rope swing is another new addition thanks to its adaptive triggers. Despite this, the features of the pad cannot be considered a true "revolution" of the title for the new gen, leaving some time they find. Another real shame is the absence of the multiplayer component by Uncharted. Alas, Naughty Dog seems to stray away from this component as well, with The Last of Us Part II appearing to have the same fate.
Look – Recensione Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection per PS5
Uncharted 4 was hands down one of the coolest games on PS4. Now, it's one of the coolest games on PS5. The same can be said for The Lost Legacy's stunning mountain ranges in India albeit to a lesser extent. New graphics features include a mode Fidelity (30fps, 4K), one mode Performance (60fps, 4K upscaled) and one mode Performance+ (120fps, 1080p). All of this serves to make these games visually more brilliant than ever. The increase of the frame rate and the lack of loading also are the biggest leaps to the flow of the action.
In addition to the graphics sector, the new 3D audio does exactly what is expected. In addition to the sound design, the soundtrack of Henry jackman it has been remastered in an excellent way. Uncharted 4 may not be on the same scale as Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Big Hero 6 (the composer's previous projects) but the sense of adventure evoked by the OST could challenge Jack Sparrow to the sword (to stay on topic).
The verdict
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection serves as a reminder of how special Nathan Drake's swan song is. On the other hand, the sequel starring heroine Chloe Frazer gives an equally valid and fun alternative to Naughty Dog's IP. That said, there isn't much for returning players outside of the new graphics enhancements and DualSense, which do little to elevate what were already two of the last generation's best games. Whether you are a fan of the saga or have missed the last two chapters of Uncharted, we would like to recommend this collection without a shadow of a doubt. Sic Parvis Magna.
