SecretLab is a brand much appreciated by all avid gamers who spend hours and hours at the desk in front of the PC, and who are looking for a comfortable and quality gaming chair. We tried the Omega model, the cheaper one, but already able to offer all the necessary adjustments to adapt to the different builds of the user.

How it is made

Omega is suitable for people with a maximum height of 180 cm and a weight not exceeding 110 kilograms. The seat is wide and able to accommodate tonnages even higher than those recommended by the manufacturer. Two lateral containment supports increase comfort once accommodated, and the junction with the backrest is very precise, to the point of making it seem like a single piece.

The five-spoke floor lamp is crafted in such a way as to be strong yet light, without adding additional weight to the chair, making the movements on wheels very fluid, also thanks to the decidedly silent wheels.

The backrest follows the design of the seat, with a flat backrest framed by two lateral containment elements. It can be tilted about 60 degrees, so you won't get the backrest level with the seat. However, if you want to lie down in some way, you can loosen the mechanism that tilts the whole chair and let it tilt until you are almost horizontally.

Two arms under the seat allow you to adjust the height and unlock the tilt lock.

The armrests are simple in design, not particularly soft or padded, but still comfortable. They can be adjusted in height, rotated on the central axis by about 30 degrees to the right or left, moved laterally and in depth, using simple-to-reach buttons.

Assembly

The assembly is not very different from other chairs, but SecretLab has introduced some measures that facilitate it.

You will begin to hook the wheels to the spoke column, and then insert the hydraulic piston. These operations do not require the use of any tools. Then unscrew the four Allen screws attached to the backrest, and then align the two arms of the seat tilt mechanism with the screw holes in the backrest. SecretLab has inserted a guide on the backrest that makes this operation much easier.

The next step will be to connect the seat support to the seat itself, which will only require you to align four holes and insert the Allen screws.

Once the operation is completed, simply overturn the seat aligning the lower hole with the hydraulic piston and the assembly will be completed.

The side covers of the arms that connect the seat and back are magneticunlike most other chairs that require anchoring with an additional screw. In about ten minutes you will be able to assemble the chair yourself.

Proof of use

The flat seat or back allow you to get comfortable without particular constraints. The Omega is not a particularly snug chair, but we think it's better that way. After all, we don't need a sporty, highly restraining seat that allows us to stand still during a high-speed curve, but a chair that makes us comfortable at the desk.

The armrests that can be adjusted in practically all directions are comfortable and the mechanisms fluid. Two memory foam pillows are supplied with the chair, one for lumbar support and one for the neck. Both are soft but not too soft, so as to support our shapes. Personally I don't like the lumbar cushion which, once positioned, limits the depth of the seat. However they are tastes.

Very appreciated the design, which eliminates the holes in the headrest area of the backrest, a detail inherited from the sports car seats that many chairs are inspired by, but completely useless in a home chair (unless you feel the need to fasten seat belts). The result is a sober but captivating design, which will not make the Omega disfigure even in a modern and elegant environment.

The seams are perfect in all parts. It is a solid and quality chair. We found no defects during all hours of use before writing this review.

Wide choice

The Omega is available in eco-leather (the model we tested), but also in fabric and real leather. There is no shortage of customized versions with colors, badges and patterns of games, films or characters.

In case you choose a different version from the classic (stealth) or black one, forget what we said about the possibility of inserting it in an elegant environment, but once again it comes to personal tastes.

Verdict

The SecretLab Omega costs 359 euros in the basic version (faux leather in different color combinations), or a few tens of euros more for the fabric versions or with a particular customization. It even goes up to 749 euros if you want it in NAPA leather.

The basic version is the one we recommend, as it offers an excellent relationship between quality and price. It is not a cheap chair, but not too expensive, considering the average market price.

Considering the quality of assembly, the design, the fluidity of the mechanisms, the comfort and appreciating the solutions introduced by SecretLab to facilitate assembly, we assign our Award to Omega.

Verdict

The SecretLab Omega is one of the best gaming chairs you can buy. Excellent build quality, fluid mechanisms, comfortable, with all the necessary adjustments and memory foam pillows. The starting price of 359 euros is more than suitable for what it offers.
