In this preview we will get to know Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef after a short but intense test on our PC
The guys of Rogueside, after the more than positive adventure with Guns, Gore and Cannoli, are back on the pitch with a new 2D adventure. Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef follows the trail traced in the past by the developers and in this preview we will get to know it. Unfortunately it will not be possible to last too long since it is one really short demo, characterized by a single level that can be completed in about 15 minutes. However, you can already see the many qualities that will characterize the full title.
A run too fast - Warhammer 40,000 preview: Shootas, Blood & Teef
Obviously speaking of runs is really an exaggeration. As mentioned earlier, the test is based on a single level which saw us busy for about 15 minutes between frenetic fights and small tests to better understand the mechanics. Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef is a side scrolling shooter title which is sure to stir old memories among Metal Slug lovers.
Although therefore a certain similarity is noted, the title of the boys of Rougeside differs in dynamics and settings. As the name suggests, is set in the Warhammer universe and we will take on the role of an Ork. In the full game the playable characters will be four, but during our little adventure we could only use one. With him we faced hordes of Orks to the sound of shots and blows from orbi.
Our character was equipped with a rifle to take down enemies from a distance and an ax to slash others in close combat. To these were then added some incendiary grenades, very useful for toasting a few groups of enemies in one fell swoop. The furious action is interspersed with small puzzles that will allow us to unlock doors or disable fire traps. Nothing too complicated on an intellectual level, but that will test your skill in dodging the various shots of the enemies while interacting with objects.
Una grafica Waaagh! – Anteprima Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef
The light-hearted aspect of this title it is not clear only from the various jokes. Even the graphic setting, entirely hand drawn, provides that style that distinguishes the Rougueside kids' video game. In fact, the characters aren't as horrifying as they do in Total War: Warhammer 3, but they look more like "caricatures" of what real orcs should be. All this, however, does not mind and indeed encourages users to play even more.
Despite so much light-heartedness, however, the effects are well done. From the explosions to the various deaths of the enemies, the title looks like well structured in every little detail. The staging is also noteworthy, with a steampunk-style city in the background. To this is added a technical sector all in all good, with well-finished audio and almost nonexistent input lag which will allow you to enjoy an excellent experience whether you use a mouse and keyboard or you want to play with a gamepad.
Conclusions
We have now reached the end of this short preview and it is therefore time to take stock. As short as our adventure is, we can immediately denote the goliardic character that the developers wanted to give to this title. We will find ourselves catapulted into a imaginative world well crafted in every small detail and drawn entirely by hand. Fifteen minutes was enough for let us appreciate what the complete video game will be coming out in a few months.
In addition to very nice graphics, the title has a good technical sector. Much appreciated was the responsiveness of our character to the various commands imposed. The gameplay is also well structured, with frantic fights that will keep you glued to the screen and small actions to take if you want to continue the adventure. In short, the base seems to be there and it also looks very intriguing. We will see what developers will be able to kick out of the hat once the video game hits the market.
That's all for this preview now. We still don't know when the game will be released, nor its final price.
