WhatsApp finally offers a native way to move WhatsApp chat from iPhone to Android. However, the whole process is not that simple and has certain limitations and conditions. Here's how to move WhatsApp chat from iPhone to Android.
Before moving on to the WhatsApp transfer process, you need to backup WhatsApp to iCloud or iTunes to recover data (if anything goes wrong in the process).
BACKUP WHATSAPP ON IPHONE
Follow the steps below to backup WhatsApp on the iCloud platform. This way, you can always recover WhatsApp data in case of interruptions during the transfer process.
- Open WhatsApp on iPhone.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Select Chat.
- Tap Chat Backup.
- Check the total size of WhatsApp backup, include or exclude videos and tap Back up now option.
Depending on your WhatsApp, it will take some time to backup all data on iCloud servers.

- You need to use the same phone number on the new device as the old one.
- Your new Android phone must be factory new or reset to factory settings.
TRANSFER WHATSAPP CHATS FROM IPHONE TO ANDROID PHONES WITH ANDROID 12
The ability to transfer WhatsApp messages from iPhone to Android is limited to Pixel and Samsung devices only. Google claims that any OEM that upgrades their existing phones to Android 12 can support this feature. The search giant is partnering with Android makers to include the WhatsApp transfer feature right away.
- Open WhatsApp on iPhone and go to Settings.
- Select Chat and open the Move chat to Android option.
- Tap Start from the following menu.
- WhatsApp will begin the preparation process. Wait for the process to complete 100%.
- Open WhatsApp on Android.
- Set it with the same mobile number as your iPhone WhatsApp.
- Connect your iPhone to Android using the Lightning to Type-C data cable.
- WhatsApp will start the transfer process. Follow the onscreen instructions.
- You will be asked to scan the QR code during the transfer process on an Android phone. Scan it using your iPhone.
You can see your android phone import chat history in real time. Once the process is complete, hit Next and enjoy your existing WhatsApp chat on Android.
The estimated time to complete the process depends on the stored data.
You can use the same trick on Samsung phones running Android 12 or later. You need to use the app to move data from iPhone to Samsung for other Samsung phones with older versions of Android.
TRANSFER WHATSAPP CHATS FROM IPHONE TO SAMSUNG
First, make sure you start from scratch on your Samsung phone. If you are already using your phone, you need to reset your phone and use the Smart Switch app to move data.

- Rotate the Samsung phone and connect it to the iPhone using the Lightning to Type-C cable.
- Samsung Smart Switch will ask you to move data from iPhone to new device. You will be asked to install the WhatsApp app on Samsung.
- Scan the QR code displayed on your Samsung phone with your iPhone.
WhatsApp on Samsung will open. Tap the Start button on the iPhone to initiate the WhatsApp transfer process.
Use the same mobile number on WhatsApp and complete the transfer procedure on your iPhone. You should be able to access existing WhatsApp chats on Samsung now.
Keep in mind that your old device will still contain your data unless you wipe it or delete WhatsApp. The transfer process will not include your peer-to-peer payment messages.
I CAN TRANSFER THE CALL HISTORY OF WHATSAPP
The whole process is only useful for transferring WhatsApp chats and group messages. It won't transfer call history from iPhone to Android.
YOU SHOULD USE THIRD PARTY APP
Transferring WhatsApp chats from iPhone to Android is limited in some ways. You can't transfer selective messages, and the whole process is limited only to Android phones running Android 12 or later.
