You can already pre-order the Surface Book 3 and the Surface Go 2, the new convertible devices from Microsoft presented yesterday. The Redmond company has developed a decidedly interesting launch offer: with the first you receive the Surface Pen, a very useful accessory for graphics professionals; with the second you receive the Surface Mobile Mouse for free, convenient for long work sessions. In addition, on both, students and teachers are entitled to a 10% discount, a possibility that should not be underestimated considering the distance learning perspective.
3 Surface Book
As for the Surface Book 3, it is the natural evolution of the model launched on the market in 2018. Microsoft has chosen not to distort its essence, confirming the design with magnetic hinge that, in recent years, has become the true hallmark of the product. It is available in 13,5 and 15 inch versions, obviously with a complete update of the technical characteristics, including the hardware platform. In fact, the 10th generation Intel processors arrive, or the Ice Lake with XNUMXnm production process.
In particular, the Surface Book 3 can count on the Intel Core i5-1035G7 processor (with quad-core architecture, reserved for the 13,5-inch model) or Core i7-1065G7 (also with quad-core architecture) depending on the chosen configuration. The graphics part is very interesting, with dedicated cards that are implemented in the magnetic coupling keyboard supplied. You can choose between the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 and 1660 TI Max-Q or the Nvidia Quadro RTX 3000, the latter aimed above all at professional users.
The RAM can go up to 32 Gigabytes (LPDDR4X standard) while the storage can reach 2 Terabytes in standard SSD. The data on autonomy is decidedly relevant: we are talking about 17,5 hours, thanks also to the energy optimization guaranteed by the new processors. As for prices, in it starts from 1.849 euros with availability expected from 5 June.
Surface go 2
The Surface Go 2, or the "little one" of the range, is instead based on the eighth generation Intel Core M3-8100Y processor (Pentium Gold for the base model), capable of offering 64% higher performance than the previous Surface Go. generation. Obviously, autonomy is also improved thanks to an optimized energy efficiency of the hardware platform. The RAM is 4 or 8 Gigabyte, while the storage is 64 Gigabyte or 128 Gigabyte.
Also in this case Microsoft has chosen to keep the design unchanged, with the display that magnetically detaches itself from the physical keyboard, obviously without forgetting the rear stand, which has become a trademark of the Surface range. All this despite the increase in the diagonal of the Pixel Sense panel, which goes from 10 to 10,5 inches, with resolution of 1.920 x 1.080 pixels. To underline the presence of Wi-Fi 6 and a variant with LTE module, which allows you to insert a data SIM and then browse on the go. Really very comfortable.
Obviously, this generation is also compatible with the Surface Pen and the Type Cover (with the possibility of also using the keyboards designed for the previous model). Availability on the market is set for 12 May next with prices starting from 469 euros.
Surface EarBuds e Surface Headphones 2
Surface Earbuds are Microsoft's new true wireless earphones, compatible with Cortana, Siri and Google Assistant voice assistants. They are equipped with touch controls for call management and music playback. Present integration with Microsoft 365 and with the Outlook app, the audio part is entrusted to 13,6 mm drivers and, moreover, they enjoy the IPX4 certification. The autonomy is definitely interesting, with 8 hours of use per single charge and up to 24 hours overall thanks to the supplied case. They will be available on the official store starting from May 12 at 219 euros, already available for order today exclusively on the Microsoft Store.
Surface Headphones 2 are over-ear headphones whose ear cups can be rotated 180 °. In this way, comfort is increased when the device is placed on the shoulders. Inside are 40mm drivers and there is active noise cancellation technology with 13 levels to adjust it to. Microsoft has provided the ability to adjust the level through the dials positioned on the outside of the headphones, in order to block or amplify the voices around. The autonomy touches 20 hours and there is no lack of support for Bluetooth 5.0. Availability from 5 June at the price of 279,99 euros, which can be ordered exclusively on the official store from today.
